In the pool - thermal waters

Baños is 1 hour away from Ambato and much clother to the Tungurahua. Baños is famous for its thermal water and a very touristic small village. Seven years ago, we came to Baños but unfortunately I hadn't kept a fond memory of it. First of all I got sick eating a pizza and then I forgot my camera in our hotel and lost all my pictures from Ecuador. This time will be different!

When we leave Ambato it's a little cold and rainy but when we get to Baños, the sky clears up and it becomes very warm. As soon as we arrive, we stop for a batido (milkshake) and head to the pools. I don't have my swimming suit but luckily they rent them! A quick mandatory shower, and in the water. And the water is SO warm! There are 3 pools. Cold water, warm water and hot water. We can't deal with the cold and hot water so we all enjoy the pool with the warm water. Wonderful time! My favorite part is that we almost have the pool for ourselves. Looks like the month of February is the least touristic period and Baños seems empty. It would be very nice to stay for a few days but because of the active Tungurahua, it would be difficult to evacuate with the girls. I am sure nothing would happen, and I think we will come back for a night next week. After our little swim, we are starving. We find a nice clean little spot and have our lunch. We are also exhausted. Those waters for sure relax you but keep your energy too! We walk around Baños a little while and go back to the bus station where we catch our bus to Ambato. We all fall asleep in the bus and almost miss our stop! What a nice day. I love Baños!
